JAMAICAN AND BARBADIAN NATIONALS CHARGED FOR ROBBERY OFFENCES

Members of the Major Crime Squad of the Royal Barbados Police Force have arrested and charged three Jamaican nationals and one Barbadian national in connection with a series of robberies which occurred from January to May 2010 .

They are:

  1. Maurice Whitfield, 25 year old Jamaican, residing at 1st Avenue, Arthurs Land, Tweedside Road, St. Michael;
  2. Kingsley Anderson, 30 year old Jamaican, residing at Rendezvous Terrace, Christ Church;
  3. Gairy Zepherin, 33 year old Barbadian, residing at Valley View, St. George; and
  4. Donovan Jackson, 21 year old Jamaican, residing at Reece Road, Brittons Hill, St. Michael.
Subjects numbers 1 to 3 have jointly received fifteen (15) charges for Robbery, and two (2) charges for Aggravated Burglary.

Subject number 4 has received two (2) charges for Handling Stolen Property and one (1) charge for possession of cannabis.

They are expected to appear in the Bridgetown Magistrate Court on Thursday 3rd June, 2010. The facts are that the subjects committed robberies throughout the island, choosing their victims at random, mainly on the streets. These men were armed with firearms and stole mainly cash, cell phones and jewellery.
