SEIZURE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

About 9.40 pm on Friday 25^th June 2010, the Drug Squad and the Police Marine Unit carried out a joint operation at sea, 1½ miles off the coast at Silver Sands, Christ Church, where a boat was intercepted.

The occupants of the boat shot at the police, and in defense, the police returned fire, the occupants then jumped overboard and escaped. The boat and fourteen (14) polyphene bags of cannabis, weighing 547.5 lbs., were seized.

Searches at sea and on land were conducted, but the boat occupants were not found.

Investigations are continuing .
