VINCENTIAN NATIONAL CHARGED FOR DRUG OFFENCES

Members of the Drug Squad of the Royal Barbados Police Force have arrested a Vincentian national in connection to a drug seizure which occurred on the 22nd April 2010 off the coast of St. James in the territorial waters of Barbados. In that incident, 850 kgs of cannabis was seized and one man believed to be a Vincentian national was shot dead, and Kirtis Joseph Quashie, 39 years, of Belair, St. Vincent, who is a Vincentian national was also shot and hospitalized.

Quashie has been charged for the offences of:

  1. Possession of Cannabis
  2. Trafficking
  3. Possession with intent to supply
  4. Importation
He is expected to appear at the Holetown Magistrate Court on Thursday 3rd, June, 2010. It is to note that Quashie was arrested and charged previously on similar drug related charges, which were before the Supreme Court of Barbados in 2001, but he absconded. A warrant of arrest had been issued for him.
